The second is that the accuracy of the mold is getting higher and higher. Ten years ago, the precision of precision molds was generally 5 micrometers, but now it has reached 2-3 micrometers. Soon, molds with a precision of 1 micrometer will be launched. This requires ultra precision machining.

Thirdly, multifunctional composite molds will further develop. In addition to stamping formed parts, the new multifunctional composite mold also undertakes assembly tasks such as lamination, tapping, riveting, and locking, and has increasingly high requirements for the performance of steel.

The proportion of hot runner molds in plastic molds is gradually increasing. Due to the use of hot runner technology in molds, the productivity and quality of the parts can be improved, and the raw materials used in production can be greatly saved. Therefore, the application of hot runner technology has developed rapidly in foreign countries. Many plastic mold factories use hot runner technology for more than half of their plastic molds, and some manufacturers have a usage rate of over 80%, with very obvious results. Hot runner molds have also been produced in China, and the usage rate of some enterprises has increased to 20%~30%.

Fifthly, with the continuous improvement and development of plastic molding processes, gas assisted molds and molds adapted to high-pressure injection molding processes will also develop accordingly. This type of mold requires good rigidity, high pressure resistance, especially the cavity of precision molds should be quenched, the gate sealing should be good, and the mold temperature can be accurately controlled, so the performance requirements for mold steel are very strict.

The application of standard components will become increasingly widespread. The standardization of molds and the application of mold standard parts will greatly affect the mold manufacturing cycle, and can also improve the quality of molds and reduce mold manufacturing costs. Therefore, the application of mold standard parts will undoubtedly have significant development during the 15th Five Year Plan period.

The prospect of fast and economical molds is very broad. Now is the era of multi variety and small batch production. In the 21st century, this production method will account for more than 75% of industrial production. As a result, on the one hand, the product usage cycle is shortened, and on the other hand, frequent pattern changes require the production cycle of the mold to be as short as possible. Therefore, the development of fast and economical molds will increasingly attract people's attention.

Eighth, with the development of lightweight products such as vehicles and motors, the proportion of die-casting molds will continue to increase, and at the same time, higher requirements will be put forward for the lifespan and complexity of die-casting molds.

The process of replacing steel with plastic and wood with plastic is further accelerating, and the proportion of plastic molds will continue to increase. Meanwhile, due to the increasing complexity and accuracy of mechanical components, the requirements for plastic molds are also increasing.

The technological content of molds will continue to increase, and the proportion of medium and high-end molds will continue to increase. This is also the change in the trend of the mold market caused by the adjustment of product structure.
